can doctors give std test results by phone?

Depends on…: Type of test & the results. Negative results r often reported by phone (except for HIV test). Many docs prefer to discuss positive results face-to-face so treatment can begin at once & preventive advice can be given. Most prefer to discuss all results of HIV test in person so reassurance can be provided, options for treatment, need to tell partners & have them treated.

i had mri&eeg test, still waiting for the result.doctor give me myonal&ultracet b'coz i had headache for 1months.any opinion? am i have a brain tumor?

Not clear on all: If i understand, you had a headache lasting for one month, and have undergone two expensive tests, MRI and eeg.  Do not quite get why brain tumor is a consideration here, unless your doctor found abnormalities, such as papilledema on exam leading to concern.  But generically, very doubtful you have tumor, hydrocephalus, etc., and more likely migraine or tension headache.

my husband got boils/spots 4month ago r big, painful, red in his head and chest, doctor give antibiotics but no results, could be sign of hiv or diabetes?

Not likely.: This is much more likely just a skin infection although depending upon specific exposure could be something completely unrelated.  Diabetes and HIV do not usually present like this.

dr office called to give me results but i didn't have my phone, a message to call back tomorrow was left not by the dr. if it was serious the doc would of called right?ive been waiting a week for these

Communication: Communicating over the phone with your doctor is not always easy or simple. If it is a serious lab or pathology report, often the doctor will call. However, not always. Okay for you to call the doctor, report the message you received to the receptionist and get the information. Don't wait for the doctor to call back. It takes both the patient and the doc to have that relationship. Be well.

hello doctor, i have little confused, i take two 4th gen combo tests came negative 6weeks.but some says 12weeks only gives conclusive results,i worried, should i take another test? 4th gen combo test not accuracy result at 6weeks?

Know your rights: Even the most hassled physician has a duty under the law to answer basic questions like this. Ask why you're not allowed to know. You legally OWN the medical record. Interpreting CBC's is subtle &amp; perhaps he/she doesn't want to worry you. Remind the office staff nicely about your rights and I'll bet they get cooperative.

: 30 minutes= not a problem, a day if it was refrigerated=not a problem for most tests, a day without refrigeration may alter some of the test results.

doctor/ultrasound place in houston doesn't want to give me my results, its been 7 weeks and i've been calling. is there another way to get the results?

Houston Minor: The ultrasound results can be obtained from the doctor who ordered the study by written records request. As a minor both the parent and patient need to be involved in the request. The actual medical facility that performed the test will also release the records with the appropriate signatures.

my doctor said 3 weeks after sex should give an accurate reading. my cycle can vary from 30 to 35 days.

Irregular timing: of ovulation, is most likely the  reason,  delayed or absent ovulation will cause you to be late. Pregnancy sounds very unlikely.  See your doctor for testing and treatment, to correct ovulation issues. This could be from PCOS, thyroid isssues, or hormone medications.

hello doctor,i take 2 hiv duo combo tests 4&6weeks,came negative but some say repeat at 12 weeks or 3mnth.its give confused.4th gen not work after 6weeks?3rd gen only take accuracy result?should i take another test at 12weeks?

: No more testing is needed. Do not believe everything you see online. If you limit your searching to professionally run (or at least professionally moderated) sites -- like academic institutions, health departments, etc -- you will see the consensus about 6 weeks being conclusive.
