why do doctors hug their patients?

Culture?: Even though I was trained in the US, I am originally Latina and we are huggers!  However, I only hug a patient after I have developed a long trusting relationship with them and if I notice my patient is receptive to it.  No hugging for first visits!

is there any legitimate pain nanagement doctors still careing and advocating for legitimate pain patients?

Yes: There are several pain management centers.  Good ones have a multidisciplinary approach, and may include providers from orthopedics, interventional radiology, psychiatry, and specialist in pain management.Some people may not be surgical candidates or respond to epidurals etc, and simply need medication.   Signed contracts, random urine testing may be required, but do not be offended if you need tx.

In what sense?: You've asked a very broad question here, and i'm not sure what you're getting at. If a patient were depressed, suicidal, and requested to be put to death, doctors would likely refuse these wishes.  They would see that the patient is ill and needs help.  Doctors are certainly known to listen to patients when going over treatment options for cancer, etc.  If i'm missing your point, please re-ask.

A type of cancer: Sarcomas are type of cancer affecting the connective tissue, muscles and bone.  These are less common than epithelial cancers.

Quite a few: As the population ages doctors are seeing more and more patients with varying degrees of dementia.  In some cases the dementia is due to a treatable medical condition.  In others the progression of the dementia can be slowed with treatment.
