Should be okay: It should be fine as long as you are not skipping the entire 24 hours.

OCPs: The most common thing to happen is breakthrough bleeding. Certainly moodiness can occur as well as other symptoms such as breast tenderness.

Ideally yes, : Ideally yes, but practically, it can be hard. If you are on an estrogen/progesterone pill, there's some forgiveness in terms of timing.  If you are on the Progesterone only pill (like nora-b), then you must take at same time every day.  An idea, if you're worried, is to set an alarm on your phone, or use one of the birth control reminder apps :-).

No: You should try to take the pill approximately the same time each day, morning or night. But being an hour or two off schedule is ok. Just don't take one in the morning, one at night, etc.

Yes: If the delay is more than 12 hours, there is a risk with low dose pills that the pituitary could stimulate the ovary and a rogue egg escapes.

The pill is "spot"on: Unfortunately, low dose contraceptive pills can cause spotting when initiated which can last for up to 3 treatment cycle months. It will not affect its' ability to block pregnancy as long as you continue to take it consistently every day but the spotting is a "nuisance" worthy of light days pads.

OCPS: As long as you have not missed any pills the possibility of pregnancy is very low.

NO: If you are on a combined birthcontrol, get used to taking it about the same time of day (so not to forget) with an activity you do daily as brushing your teeth, putting on makeup, taking out your contacts etc. If you remember it at any point the same day; take it. If you forget two days in a row; you are not safe. If you use breastfeeding pill, you should take it the same hour or two every day.

No but you should: It will still work but you should take your bcp at the same time every day
get in the habit at night after or before dinner, or at bed time or in morning after you brush your teeth
you will remember to take it with the activity you do daily like brush your teeth etc.

Accepted Answer

Brownish discharge: It is likely that you need a stronger dose of hormones in the bcp than the one that your are taking.  Probably the estrogen component is too low.
