Other ligaments such as the anterior cruciate ligament (acl) of the knee does not have the capacity to heal. Surgical reconstruction is needed in carefully indicated patients.

Depends where: In the foot, the lisfranc ligament (middle of the arch) is a notorious subtle injury that usually requires surgery and without it, function, stability and ability to return to sport is often impossible.  If it's the plantar fascia, let it heal naturally as it is below standard of care to "repair" that ligament surgically.  Where is the ligament tear?

BAPS: I would recommend physical therapy and baps exercises. This stands for balance and proprioception. Go and buy a wobble board and start working with that. Otherwise there are some theraband exercises that pt can teach you (maybe you can find them on google).
