Some people use: Sunflower seeds as a way to avoid constipation. There was one case of a sunflower bezoar causing a fecal impaction (weird !).

No more: ...than any other food.  In fact, many people use sunflower seeds as a way to avoid constipation.  I think they are fine to include in your diet in moderate amounts. Good wishes:)

Denervation: Any type of spine or disc surgery can possibly (although rarely) affect motor nerves to the colon. Need to see both a neurologist and a GI physician.

Chest pain: It is very unlikely that sunflower seeds are responsible for chest pain but you should certainly stop taking them'

Anyone with chest pain every night needs to see a doctor as soon as possible. If there is a long wait time please go the the local Emergency Room.

Aspiration : Highly unlikely to cause major injury. Should clear with cough. If symptoms persist beyond a few days,  get a chest xray  at your doctor.

Flush thruough fiber: Please flush through with lots of fluids, which can be critical to prevent constipation, and a good fiber laxative will help promote motility of the colon to help expel the seeds.....Perhaps MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) (available over the counter) would help clear the colon.

Risotto: Is an italian rice dish. If you have a diet that is high in this type of carbs and is lacking in vegetables, fruits, whole grains and other sources of fiber - constipation is more likely. But risotto does not in and of itself cause constipation.

Overeat/Constipation: Overeating may cause constipation by increasing the intestinal waste . This may lead to improper colon function and distension of the colon possibly affecting the muscle tone and natural peristalsis or wave like motions of the intestine which propel the waste materials towards the anal opening.  A well balanced diet high in fiber and water decreases constipation. See your doctor for  an exam.
