No: If a person is not having hair loss due to bad iron deficiency, then taking iron pills will not change how her hair grows. Iron is a important nutrient, but too much iron is also toxic.

See a dermatologist: Decrease stress. Eat a healthy balance diet which includes protein. Have thyroid levels and iron stores checked. See a dermatologist for evaluation and work-up. Topical Minoxidil twice a day is the only proven remedy to thicken hair. However, this treatment it is not appropriate for everyone (given the warnings, precautions, and contraindications). See and discuss options with a dermatologist.

Needs re-eval: Conditions like this are often transient. Doesn't sound like you have proven iron deficiency and in any case you should be back up to normal by now.  Sounds like you need to talk to your doc again.

Discuss with endo: Hypothyroidism may be associated with hair loss and it may be reasonable  to discuss if your levo dose is sufficient. It may take several weeks and up to 6 months to see a response.

Pcp: Make sure you run above through your primary care doc or hematologist if already established. You might need to have iv iron infusions or be switched to a different po iron supplement. Further work up might be needed in trying to understand what else is contributing to your iron deficient anemia.

Maybe: Your iron deficiency needs to be treated, and even more importantly its cause found. If your hair loss is due to telogen effluvium, maybe treating your iron deficiency will help. If it's from a fungus, seborrhea, telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, or hypothyroidism (i hope that's been checked), it won't. If you must ask, it's time for a dermatology consultation.

is it okay to take iron pills (65mg) ,b6 vitamin (100mg) and biotin pills (5000mcg) together? or should i alternate them? i need the iron pills and i heard b6 helps with blood circulation, wanted to add biotin because of skin and hair benefits. thx!!

Iron: Iron supplements are best taken with food to avoid stomach irritation and add a stool softener daily to prevent constipation. I recommend taking the other supplements either before or after taking iron. Be aware that iron can make stools appear black. Your pharmacist can also advise you about your medications.

non-anemic iron deficient patient ferritin 7, sat 10 and tibc 475, iron pills haven't help, still feel fatigue, add, lose my hair.what else will help?

Give it time: Iron replacement can take many weeks before fatigue resolves. If more than 6 weeks pass, recheck the ferritin. If it has not gone up, iron is not being absorbed, and that would require further eval. If it rises and fatigue continues, look for other cause.
