Further testing: A follow up with your PCP including routine screening tests may be indicated. Screening for Diabetes, renal disease and infection are among possible causes.

why does my natures bounty iron supplements smell like vinegar? the target brand of iron i usually get never has any smell. the expiration date is 2023?

: Suggest you contact the store where purchased, and ask the local pharmacist if present, why there is an aroma to your supplements.  Alternatively, you could contact manufacturer via phone, email, or snail mail.

why do iron supplements make your poop smell so bad? per my dr i am taking iron and since then it has smelled horrible! why?

Keep taking iron: If you are iron deficient keep taking iron, smelly poop notwithstanding. I do not know if it is true but the following may suffice as an explanation. Some of the unabsorbed iron is converted to to iron sulfide by the bacteria in the gut and that generates hydrogen sulfide which produces the smell of rotten eggs.

good day, my stool is black and i have been taking iron supplements as well, my stool also smells of blood. what could be the problem?

Some thoughts: Iron supplements will darken stool color as a side effect7 may effect the smell. The only way to tell if this is due to blood would be to have the stool analyzed.

May be infected: I can't be certain but it  may be  infected. You can ask your physicians to check the urine and get a urine  culture.

Not likely: But if you have an iron deficiency, it can impact your health.

my sides are gruggling for s few says. i haven't really eating much, as i have this problem i am on iron  pills 3x daily. what can cause this problem?

Iron pills side fx: G i upset is a frequent side effect of oral iron.U might try and reduce the dose or hold the pills altogether for a few days and see if these symptoms resolve.If so , then resume at a lower daily dose.Always inform your perscribing doctor of any side effects or medicine changes.

why can't you take iron pills when you are getting a capsule endoscopy?

Accepted Answer

Color: mainly because it changes the color of your intestinal secretions and stool. It also causes constipation. Therefore it may preclude you to have an optimal examination. Most patients getting a capsule endoscopy have anemia, however stopping it for a few days prior to the test is ok and recommended.
