Family practice : Just tell him. He should be checked out as well. With treatment you should have normal sex life. There are medications to prevent out breaks.

: There's no cure for genital herpes, however, treatment with prescription antiviral medication such as Acyclovir may:
Lessen the severity and duration of symptoms in recurrent outbreaks; reduce the frequency of recurrence; and
minimize the chance of transmitting the herpes virus to another.

You might not be: Able to if there are no obvious lesions. There is usually a cluster of lesions that look like blisters. The lesions can appear on the penis, anus, labia or cervix ; they can spread, coalesce followed by crusting over. The fluid in the lesions is very contagious.  (herpes simplex type ii).

Accepted Answer

Impossible to tell: For an individual, transmission either happens or not with every sexual contact. Risk goes down w/suppressive antivirals taken daily but not to zero. I believe your partner has a right to know. I would also suggest that you continue using a condom. Just because he is married, unfortunately this does not exclude possibility of transmitting an infection to you. You also have to take care of yourself.

Yes: If you are shedding the virus from your tissues during intercourse this could be passed. It is much less likely when you have no visible lesions but it is possible.

Cant be specific: She either has it or she doesn't.  Obviously she has put herself at higher risk by having multiple partners but they all could be clean, or she not be susceptible.  If worried, she should see her OB-GYN to get evaluated and tested.

First be sure!: You can be tested for herpes 1 ; 2, to see if you have had one or both. If you do, then you will need treatment if you develop lesions of herpes in your mouth, lips, etc. You would be contagious. If you do not have herpes, then barrier protection and your partner taking Valtrex (valacyclovir) faithfully are musts!

Herpes : Herpes is caused by a virus that can lie dormant in the body for years.  Because of this, you can catch it from someone who has never even had any symptoms.  Since you had a negative test in june and a positive test now, it's safe to say you probably contracted herpes sometime between then and now, but when and from who cannot be determined.  Either partner could have transmitted it to you and your outbreak would not have necessarily coincided with when you contracted it. Inform b4 sex: The best time to tell any sex partner about STD's or Herpes is PRIOR to any sexual encounter so they have an option to say no, if desired. Herpes is easily transmitted during its" vesicle (blister) stage and condoms don't always cover the affected areas. Hepatitis C  needle exposure should be blood  tested now.
