Bowel Movements: She will go on her own when she is ready to go.  The biggest mistake we as parents make is thinking our babies have to go everyday.  If you keep stimulating her with the thermometer, she will get to the point she will only go when she has that stimulus.  So stop doing that.  Some babies go multiple times a day, some go everyday, some go once a week.  Adults do that too.  Be patient.

Need core Temp: Core temperatures are always best for infants.  When it comes to taking a temperature that is accurate in an infant, the only way to get a reliable reading is a rectal reading.  Therefore, get a medium priced ($20) thermometer.  Ear, temporal, arm pit or oral in a baby are just not accurate enough.

Rectal thermometer: It's still the most accurate, especially in children who are too young to cooperate with an oral thermometer. A cheap digital one is best. It's quite safe. It just takes a little getting used to the idea. Ear and forehead thermometers can be notoriously unreliable.

You don't: 37.2 is a normal temperature (C) and does not need any change. When/if you think your 6 wk old has fever it would need to be 38C or above. At that age with fever they might have infection from birth related germs &amp; would need to be seen immediately on an emergency basis.
