Acne and Hot Showers: The cause of the acne is not the hot shower however. Acne is caused by many different things. A hot shower only allows the acne to surface and come out. What causes the acne in the first place is probably something to do with your diet and lifestyle, genetics a acne can be caused by the things that you eat. If your diet is fast food and potato chips then chances are you are more likely to get acne.

Hot Showers & Acne: The best is warm water, hot water does irritate your skin - it over dries it and may damage  capillaries in your skin which make for reddish and overly sensitive skin - which in turn breaks out more easily.

Acne: Yes. Increasing exposure of existing acne to heat and humidity will increase irritation and inflammation of the acne lesions. The hot water will not cause acne but it can aggravate it.

Possible: Hot showers are known to dry the skin and irritation.  Dry skin leads to increased oil production to attempt to moisturize the skin.  This process repeats itself daily and can lead to worsened acne.  Give cooler showers a try, but keep in mind that it will take about 8 weeks to see most changes to your skin.

Meds: Many patients do well with over the counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid preparations. Some patients require topical or oral antibiotics or retinoids as well. If the over the counter meds alone don't control your acne after a month of daily use, see a doctor for additional treatment options. It is important to be persistent, and some patients 'get worse before they get better'.

No cure just control: Can use. Benzoyl peroxides, topical erythromycins, and some retinoids (topically) are ok, but would coordinate between OB and derm for most up to date data. Light therapy, usually ipl also totally safe-again derms woul do.

Stinging face: You may have developed cholernergic urticaria which is a form of hives brought on by overheating. The acne you describe may in fact be hives. See your dermatologist for a diagnosis.

Maybe: Taking hot baths is not good for your skin and if you are burning your skin this physiological stress can trigger acne.  Sunburns do this as well.  Multiple hot baths can also dry your skin and can make your skin fragile and more susceptable to acne.  Use oil free moisturizers and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.  If you are taking these hot baths to relieve stres this may be causing acne.

Probably hormonal.: I'm not sure what you mean by "tropical acne", but most cases of acne are caused by increased testosterone production, which causes increased oil production, which overwhelms the oil duct, leading to clogging, and then acne. Other hormones are probably involved as well. Exercise and sweat can make it worse, but is not the cause. It is nearly always treatable. See a dermatologist!
