Bleeding in 2%: The rate of postoperative bleeding for both adults and children is noted to be 2%. Other risks include voice change, liquid escape into the nose (1%), change in taste (5%), and of course a very sore throat for at least two weeks.  You will need two weeks off from work.  When bleeding occurs this may require a return trip to the operating room to cauterize the spot that is bleeding.

Adult tonsillectomy: Generally. Always have risk of excessive bleeding, anesthesia mishaps, post-op and delayed bleeding (7-10 days after). Risk should be minimal in properly selected patients. Performed for recurring infecting, peritonsillar abscesses, sleep apnea, cancer diagnosis.

Yes: It is safe. It is not done very often in adults but if necessary, the usual presurgical evaluation is done.

How long after?: It takes at least 3 weeks to recover from adult tonsillectomy.  Even then the muscles around the tonsil may feel tight for a while.  Occasionally the stylohyoid tendon behind the tonsil area is irritated for months after a tonsillectomy.  Rarely a surgery is done to remove the styloid process when this continues to be  a large problem.   This is called eagle's syndrome.

Recommended timing: The recommended interval for use is 6 hours between doses. More frequent use is unlikely to provide additional benefit.

Yes: See a doctor for removle it can cause infection otherwise. And very painful.
