Dizzy on getting up: Anytime I lay down and open my eyes, I get dizzy getting up. It can be in the afternoon or morning. Why? ANS: Ah that is the question. Need much more details and need to look at your eye movements upon getting up. So have your Dr. test you for positional nystagmus or a fall in BP when you stand. I am here till 4 AM PDT and can look at you eyes right after you get up and see what is going on.

Dizzy spells: Please see your local ENT doctor for dizziness evaluation and your ophthalmologist for red eyes. 
Don't self medicate or guess about the diagnoses.

can mucinex (guaifenesin) d or major anxiety cause a feeling of dizziness when laying down with eyes closed? had mri and vestibular testing and normal.

Dizziness Rx: It is possible that anxiety can cause symptoms of dizziness, but Mucinex (guaifenesin) probably would not.

It is helpful that your tests were ok, that eliminates a lot of causes.

Perhaps not it is time to get some therapy for your anxiety and some PT exercises for your dizziness.

for years i've gotten week-long spells of dizziness & eye seizures, mostly when i'm laying down. i also get really tired after i eat. any thoughts?

Likely bppv: You need to see an ENT  who can check you for benign positional vertigo. A self limiting and easy treatable condition.

Blood pressure: This may relate to changes in blood pressure when you move or it may be your inner ear giving you the problem when moving.  Either way--a visit to your internist should get you on the right path to figuring this out.

BPPV: Your diagnosis is most likely benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. It is caused by free floating calcium carbonate crystals in the inner ear. It may be confirmed by a Hallpike Maneuver performed by your doctor. It may be treated by different exercises and maneuvers. You may try some exercises by searching on line.

Vertigo: You may have an ear problem triggering your symptoms, if you sysmptoms persist, see your doctor about it, it is probably viral but can be quite debilitating.

prozac (fluoxetine) 40mg for 6 daya now. feel off balance and when lay down and close eyes feel woozy but not dizzy or spinning. is this a side effect?

Possibly: If you started at 40, without prviously taking 20, 30, etc. then it is most likely a side effect. Speak to your prescriber about taking a lower dose.

When does it start/stop? 
Where does it go? 
What makes it better/worse? 
How long does it last?  
Medication helps/worsens?
 If you think it is something you eat/drink/do stop it &amp; see. If better, go back again &amp; retest until u r convinced it is something u should stop. Then stop it.

Discuss with your Drs. You all will figure it out.

Ear problem?: Sounds like you might have an inner ear issue.  I would make an apt with you doc.
