Not for urethritis: Nitrofurantoin is used to treat urinary tract infections, especially bladder infections. It kills susceptible bacteria anywhere in the body, but especially in the urinary tract. Infections that are only in the distal urethra (urethritis) are usually caused by other organisms such as chlamydia and gonorrhea that are transmitted sexually, and for them nitrofurantoin is not a good choice.

Urethral lesion: In my opinion you should have it removed for 2 basic reasons: 1) acute obstruction is painful, and you can probably eliminate a lot of that; 2) chronic obstruction will lead to decreased kidney function, and you don't want that. You need your kidneys.

There is a cause?: Narrowing of the PUJ can be caused by scar or some other pathology.
This can produce what is called Hydronephrosis which would be proportionate to the degree of obstruction.
Your mother should consult a Urologist to check if she needs further tests to find the cause and correct the problem before the obstruction causes  any damage to her kidney.

Post surgery the healing process can cause a major change in the anatomy from adhesions &amp; scarring when incurring multiple subsequent surgeries from complications and possible infection from mesh  use.  No, this is not completely normal and a 2nd opinion is warranted with a GYN MD Urogynecologist.

Symptoms?: I guess you are reading the report of an abdominal x ray. Phleboliths are benign and are no cause for concern. They are not easily confused with ureteral stones especially when multiple. Stones would cause fever, pain, blood in urine.

Treatment different: Phleboliths are calcified small veins that are not usually clinically important. There usually is no treatment unless associated with hemangiomas, usually in children. Calculus or stone in ureter is referred to ureterolithiasis. This  can cause pain and obstruction to the ureter. The stone either passes on its own, or sometimes has instrumentation by urologist.
