It depends...: ...on what you mean by "mimics". Many things can cause some herpes-like symptoms:  oral impetigo, minor pimples, folliculitis, syphilis, some yeast infections, various kinds of dermatitis, and more. But almost no mimics if symptoms are typical: blisters/sores, esp. if recurrent and in clusters, sometimes inflamed nodes in the groin, heal in 1-2 weeks. Typical or not, see doctor for exam, testing.

Herpes: It takes about 2 to 6 weeks for an antibody response to develop to a clinically measurable level. The variation depends somewhat on which type of antibody ( igm or igg) the particular test method is measuring.  However not all stds are diagnosed by a blood test.  Some of them need clinical symptoms. See your doctor if you are worried.

High risk: Especially with unprotected sex. Easiest way to check is to talk to u'r doctor about HSV IgG antibody testing. Of this is positive would mean u have it.

Sixth disease: is an old fashioned term for roseola, a viral illness most commonly seen in those under the age of 2.  It is caused by a herpes virus, but not the herpes virus I think you are thinking of.  The chicken pox virus, the mono virus and the cold sore virus are in the family of  herpes viruses.

: That certainly sounds gross! In general, it is unlikely she will catch anything in that fashion. The main infection that can spread through bodily fluids is Hep B, but it needs to be through an open wound or via mucous membranes (mouth, vagina, eyes, etc). She should take the leggings off and wash with soap and water as soon as she is home.

Depends on situation: The transmission of the herpes simplex virus  is possible from active skin or mucous membrane sores if present. If none are present, the child is not considered contagious. A close examination of all skin surfaces should be done frequently in the early treatment phase as these can be elusive. Good hand washing &   contact isolation will limit any spread from active lesions.

Yes, it's possible: Herpes can first cause symptoms a year or more after being infected, especially if the symptoms are mild -- i.e. just a few localized sores, no fever, no inflamed lymph nodes. With multiple lesions, inflamed nodes, etc, you can assume the infection was caught within 3 weeks before symptoms started, usually 3-10 days. All this can happen either with or without an autoimmune disease.

i have herpes like symptoms on my genitals. but type 1 and type 2 tests both came negative. can it be wrong ? what else can this disease be ?

Behcet's, drug rxn: Behçet's disease or a drug eruption are both possibilities.  You may benefit from a biopsy.  Have a dermatologist or urologist evaluate!

if skin is a protective barrier, why doesn't it protect you from herpes or other diseases?how do they infect if theyre in contact with dead skin cell?

It does...: Although some organisms can penetrate intact skin herpes does not. The herpes virus infects by coming into contact with a mucus membrane like the mouth, vaginal canal or the male urethra. Hope this helps.
