it has anti-cholinergic properties that can cause intra-ocular pressure in the eye to increase, due to obstruction of the normal flow of fluid out of the eye. The link above explains it in more detail.

Yes: In patients with closable angles any dilating agent is dangerous as it can precipitate an attach of acute angle closure glaucoma. Anti histamines are contraindicated. Best to see an ophthalmologist and get the angles checked. If they are indeed narrow and closable a laser procedure should be done to prevent a future attack.

DPH & Asthma, glauco: Diphenhydramine(dph), benadryl, (diphenhydramine) is an antihistaminic having an Atropine like effect, i.e. In asthma is dries up secretions in the bronchi ( the respiratory pipes), thus it worsens asthma. In glaucoma it  can precipitate an acute angle closure glaucoma, yes it is unwise to use it. On other side effect is lethargy and in pregnancy it is also unwise to unnecessarily sedate the fetus. So, yes yes yes.

Depends: Some Diphenhydramine comes in capsules and some in solid pills.  You can cut the pills but the capsules will just squish, break open and spill the contents.  If capsules are all you have, you can dissolve the contents in water and drink half or something we do with patients at times is to mix it with jello and have them eat the proper amount.

For this one usually every 6 hours. Most common side effect is tiredness (2 out of 3) but 1 out of 3 speed up. Never a dull moment in medicine if your always thinking about what you're doing. PS- you did not mention your weight.
