my big toe nail fell off due to trauma and has grown back with a dip in the middle of the nail. it is also still black! is this normal?

Not normal: It should not grow back black. You may have a fungal infection.

Snap, crackle &amp; pop.: It is a habit, and like most habits, both good and bad, very hard to break. You can spend a lot of money and time for help, but in the end, you either want to stop or not. I can think of a lot of worse things to spend your time doing.

Probally not: Toes are always getting bumped and banged and even with breaks there usually justed taped to stabilize them.

Arthritis: Typically toes will lock due to arthritis or inflammation of the joints.  Anti-inflammatories may be helpful such as advil, (ibuprofen) if not try ben gay or something similar to help with this condition.  Make sure that your shoes are not to short.

Nails or toes?: If you mean the toes themselves, this is a little worrisome.  Usually the skin will turn black if there is tissue death--necrosis--of the skin.  This can happen if blood vessels are damaged or inflamed.  Sometimes, blood under the skin can cause this appearance as well.  If you mean the nails, that can be a sign that a mold has gotten under the nails.  Either way, i recommend a doctor visit.

how do you fix blistered toes?

If the blister: Is merely caused by friction and if there is fluid in it you would want to get the fluid out. This could be done with a sterile instrument and a clean foot. Gently price the skin and squeeze to get the fluid out. Cover blister site with antibiotic ointment and bandaid.

Could be a fungus: But it could also be something else.  Call a toe truck and bring them to a podiatrist to get checked out.
