i am experiencing  difficulty swallowing. the following also describe me: regurgitation of food or liquid, speech difficulty, food getting stuck (swallowing), and chest pain or discomfort. what should i do?

Swallowing problem: At your age, the most likely cause is acid reflux. Common causes include smoking, alcohol, caffeine, fizzy drinks, certain medications (eg. aspirin, ibuprofen, citalopram), spicy or fatty foods. Try a regular antacid, eg gaviscon, ranitidine, omeprazole &amp; consider the reversible causes I’ve listed. Book an appointment to see your GP to discuss other possible causes or treatments if it persists.

i had difficulty swallowing and my neck feels tight closer to the base, now experiencing chest pain under sternum 
almost burning, dont have a cough?

Esophagitis : Esophagitis is one possible cause. Acid reflux may result in a burning sensation. Discuss a trial of antacids with your physician. Imaging may also be ordered along with lab studies to determine the cause.

right side chest pain, difficulty swallowing heart burn. clean bill from cardio. waiting on follow up w/ gastro. what to expect. already takin rx gerd?

Mgt/workup: Your GI specialist may order additional tests or perform an endoscopy of your upper GI tract to determine the underlying cause of your GERD. I would suggest an H Pylori screening test. A change in dose or anti reflux medication may be indicated after this assessment.

i have a hiatal hernia thats 5cm. i have shortness of breath, chest pain, difficulty swallowing, sever dry throat, anxiety (severe at times,) rapid heart rate with exertion, high heart rate, and a drop in o2. i get 0 sleep, please help?

: Follow the instructions of your Gastro doc regarding hiatal hernia which will help your swallowing. eat small frequent soft meals Drink small sips of water for dry throat. Many of the other symptoms are related to your anxiety. Pl explain to your family MD and get treated.  With proper management you will be OK

Pharyngitis: Difficulty swallowing is often due to inflammation and swelling of the throat. Do you have fever? Can you get your blood pressure checked? Dizzy feeling often accompanies an infection.  If you have a fever and feel worse, an evaluation by a doctor is needed which will include an EKG.  Meanwhile drink lots of green tea and water.

18 years old. swollen lymph nodes that haven't grown in size. but i have a cough and difficulty swallowing followed with chest pains. is this lymphoma?

No way to know: Go see your family doctor. He may put you on antibiotics. You  need some blood work and scans done,  and if no better a lymph node bx may be required.

i have severe heartburn that keeps getting worse. leads to chest pains and difficulty swallowing and breathing. feels like my airway is constricted. family history of heart problems. could it be related?

Doctor can evaluate: Chest tightness and shortness of breath can be due to minor problems or to very serious ones. An emergency room doctor can check to see what might be going on. Sometimes, tests and chest x-rays will be done. Possible causes include acid reflux, esophageal spasm, heart inflammation or attack, partial pneumothorax (collapsed lung), etc... One should not assume acid reflux is always the cause.

really sore throat & difficulty swallowing solids 12 days post egd. no fever, no abdominal or chest pain. should i be worried? could it be a perf?

Upper endoscopy: Although it is not normal to have pain, irritation, or difficulty swallowing after an upper endoscopy, it is not likely that you suffered a perforation, since you would likely be very ill by 12 days out if you had suffered a perforation. Regardless, if you are having these symptoms now, you should contact the doctor who performed your procedure. Good luck.

hello. please may you help. i have a left side chest pain that gets worse after eating. chest tightness. difficulty swallowing and sore throat. upper back pain. left side head pain. a lot of belching and burping and passing gas. uneasy stomach pain.
