does a ct show a difference between ovarian cyst and ovarian cancer?

Ovarian cancer: A ct of the abdomen and pelvis can give clues but surgery gives the only answers.  In general, ovarian cancers are larger, more complex, often involve the omentum and lymph nodes. Ascites (excessive fluid in the abdomen) is often seen on ct also.

Unfortunately those: two conditions can look similar on the CT scan.  Another option is to treat for diverticulitis, then repeat the CT scan to see if the abnormality has resolved.  If you don't have symptoms of diverticulitis, you should have the sigmoidoscopy.

ct chest found mass behind my nipple they said could possibly be a cyst but needs urgent work up.if they think cyst why do i need urgent work up. does this flag cancer suspicion. im 32 cant they tell difference between cyst & cancer mass on ct?

: Any "mass" found "behind" the areola needs a tissue diagnosis at age "32", especially if  close female relatives have breast cancer histories.  A "mas" can be partially cystic, and the CT is therefore helpful in determination of the need for biopsy.

Not necessarily: Ultrasound would be a more accurate test to evaluate the contents of an ovarian cyst.  Ovarian cysts are common findings.  You should see your gynecologist.

why would a mri be better at finding mesothelioma and a ct scan better at lung cancer or is there no difference for the 2?

There are distinct T: CT scan shows the lungs much better whereas MRI shows the pleural surface much better. Since Mesothelioma starts on the Pleural surface, it is easier to detect it on MRI although CT scan will also pick up most mesotheliomas once they grow to a moderate size.

: CAT scan looks at structural anatomy, but PET looks at metabolic activity.  The two are complementary, as covers the bases far more thoroughly and reveal more abnormal areas.  This has become important in cancer detection.

None: Ct scan will not cause cancers , although there is very small  potential due to minimum radiation exposure. Humans are unknowingly exposed to ionizing radiation like prolonged repeated air travel more than any diagnostic test , just don't worry about getting cancer from xray tests, it only a precaution for un indicated tests.

Sometimes: I'm not sure what a "ct tap" is.  I assume it's a typo for "ct scan".   Ct scans can show some types of cancer, but the ability to find cancer depends on the type of cancer and specifics about the type of ct scan (such as whether it uses contrast).

So-so: It depends where, how big the cancer is, and so forth. The new CT scans pick up lung cancers that are quite small -- most of the "cures" of tumors found this way may be of non-aggressive tumors. A scan can pick up a mass suspicious for cancer but of course tissue's required for certainty.

can a tech get cancer from doing full body ct scans?

No: During ct scans radiology technician stays out side the scanner room, protected by lead lined shields.So many protective measures are in place, no one will be exposed to radiation, (except patient who will get the predicted amount of radiation ). All the persons involved will wear special radiation  exposure badges to be  measured annually  the total amount radiation .Exposure to that person.
