Amoeba Shmomoeba...: Think about it this way: Whatever is causing the diarrhea, an infant is very sensitive to fluid loss, and other losses too.So if it has been excessive and persistent and the baby won't take enough fluids by mouth to compensate for the losses(dry mouth, decreased tears and urine volume, acting cranky and tired), it's time to see a doctor. Let him figure out the cause, whether amoeba or just a virus

Ibs: is a conditions and u may have frequent bms normal or watery. Steatorrhea is a sign of fatty stools due to malabsorption syndrome which needs a ge consult.

But since patients can have painless rectal bleeding from other serious  etiology, so it is advised , patient should get Colonoscopy

Pain relieved w BM is major distinction of IBS from chronic diarrhea, and "colitis" generally reserved for ulcerative colitis/Crohn's

i am using nan pro stage 2 and changed to dexolac. it caused loose stools to my baby. what should i do to control it? what are the precautions?

Formula intolerance: As far as I know nanpro2 has a  a combination of milk and soy protien,.and dexolac has only milk and whey protien
.as far as sugar goes they both have lactose .both are good but if soy is the isue it will give harder stools

Hard to tell: It would be unwise to interpret your baby's mucus solely without looking at the entire picture. You may need to provide more detail as to how else your baby is doing - fever, feeding routine, blood present in stool, presence of pain, change in urination etc.? Brown mucus w/out other symptoms, otherwise, may not be something to worry.

Need more info: Do not know the age of the baby, what other symptoms may be present, whether she is feeding appropriately, sleeping too much, irritable, or other vital info.  Strongly suggest that you take her asap and be seen by a doctor to make certain nothing serious is going on, or at least call and speak with a pediatrician.
