Electricity : The heart is a house with 2 chambers upstairs (atria) and 2 chambers downstairs (ventrical). The electricity to the downstairs chambers comes from the upstairs chamber. The connecting point between the tow floors is called AV node. If you cut this AV node, the lower chambers will not have electricity to work, so u need to provide the lower chamb with anther source of electricity, that is pacemaker

: No- Flutter is often fast and regular sometimes up to 400 atrial bearts/mi. Fib is irregularly irregular. Tachy is fast and regular.  Your atrial are firing regularly. And maybe from different site than your a fib.

Related, different: Atrial fib is a chaotic, irregular contraction of the top chambers of the heart (atria).  Atrial flutter is a rapid, but regular beating of the atria.  Both can lead to the same symptoms, both can cause irregular pulse, both have a risk of stroke.  Usually flutter is easier to treat with a catheter ablation than af is.  An ekg can often tell the difference.

Atrial fibrillation is frequently paroxysmal, but can be chronic and more sustained (i.e. Always present, as opposed to coming and going). There are other examples of paroxysmal arrhythmias, so it is important to distinguish between them because the treatment and prognosis can be quite different.
