Maybe miscarriages: Ureaplasma & mycoplasma hominis have been implicated in single miscarriages or recurrent pregnancy losses. The studies are not high quality, but it's relatively cheap and easy to give a course of antibiotics to women who have had one or more miscarriages, & their partners. Mycoplasma genitalium may be a cause pelvic inflammatory disease (pid). See a rei specialist if ttc without success.

Vulvar Folliculitis: Assuming that the lesions are truly pilo-pustular in origin [see image], the most common bacterial causes are staphylococcus and pseudomonas sp. M. Hominis is, of course, associated with cervicitis and vaginitis, and very infrequently with vulvovaginitis [photo from uptodate.Com, reproduced with permission from lynne j margesson, md].

Smegma not bumps: M genitalis is what is found in the cheesy, curdly secretion found between the foreskin and glans penis. It does not cause bumps- if you are referring to the whitish bumps that is sometimes  seen alon the edge of the glans penis, those are naturally occurring " pink pearly penile papules ".

Mycoplasma Hominis, : M. Hominis is generally susceptible in vitro to tetracyclines (eg, doxycycline). Fluoroquinolones, such as Ciprofloxacin and moxifloxacin, are usually active in vitro against m. Hominis. Chloramphenicol mics are relatively high for m. Hominis (2 to 25 mcg/ml), m. Hominis is generally resistant to the macrolides (erythromycin, azithromycin, clarithromycin), aminoglycosides, sulfonamides, etc.).

had a mycoplasma and ureaplasma vaginal swab test done while i was on nitrofurantoin for something unrelated. can this possibly cause false negative?

Accepted Answer

No: Nitrofurantoin is used almost exclusively for either the treatment or prevention of a lower urinary tract infection (aka bladder infection, cystitis). It has no activity that I am aware of against either mycoplasma or ureaplasma and would therefore not cause a false negative vaginal swab test for these 2 organisms.

i have a strong burning when i ejaculate after passing chlamydia . semen culture shows only enterococcus faecalis , and screening culture shows like ureaplasma , staphylococcus , mycoplasma . what can be the cause or is there any treatment?

: Most likely the infection came from anal sex and can be difficult to take care of.  But discuss with your Dr.

Simple test: Your Doctor should sent your urine for tests: bacteria for UTI, Gonorrhea, Chlamidia, Ureaplasma...

my doctor was looking for what caused my urticaria but my blood work said i had mycoplasma.?? but i itch badly in heat. i need serious help.

? Cholinergic: urticaria, or other form of urticaria, better be sorted out by your doctor who might refer you, meanwhile you need to take antihistamines on regular basis whether you have symptoms or not, caution not to drive if you get sedated, your doctor might start you on cyproheptadine, an antihistaminic used to treat cholinergic urticaria, if you truly have it, take care

Can be treated: IF you have a mycoplasma respiratory illness then this needs to be treated. Infections during pregnancy need to be treated. Untreated infections can cause more harm than treating them
