i am having bad cramps and diarrhea on my period, why?

May be endometriosis: It may be that you are just having a bad period, but if this occurs with several or all of them, you might have endometriosis. This is when some of the cells that line the uterus and make you have period actually leave the uterus and also attach to other organs like the bowels. They still respond to hormones and get irritated during your period and could give you diarrhea if on the bowels. See doc.

i'm having black-colored diarrhea on my period and excreting lots of tissue (or clots?) after 11 days late, 3rd day of bleeding. is this normal?

Not normal but OK: Sometimes due to stress or other reasons you have delayed menses, which can cause extra blood flow afterwards. If conception was a possibility miscarried tissue may appear that way.

Prostaglandins: can be associated with these side effects. A female's period doesn't always present the same way each month. Take care.

Apri, possibly: Sweats, cramping, diarrhea, headaches, and depression can all be side effects of all birth control pills. You need to work with your gyn, let them know your psych history, and find a balance of good effects (preg prevention) with side effects. Sometimes a different kind of birth control altogether is better. Either way, make sure you're practicing safe sex, and if you get a fever see someone asap!

Menstrual issues: You could have a mild case of IBS or other bowel issue.  Also, both menstrual cramps (contractions) and diarrhea are associated with levels of prostaglandins.  That's why we sometimes tell pregnant women wanting to deliver without induction to take castor oil to induce diarrhea.

Loose stools/menses: Cells in the uterus produce a chemical called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins stimulate smooth muscles in both the uterus and in some women they also stimulate the smooth muscle of the bowel.  As the smooth muscles are stimulated in the uterus it allows the uterus to expel excess inner lining tissue. As smooth muscle in the intenstines are stimulated it propels feces rapidly through the colon.&gt;.

? Stomach flu: Most probably viral infection that affected yourself and your son, acetaminophen, rest and fluids, bland diet, avoid fried and fatty foods for now, if not better or new symptoms develop, please see your doctor

Diarrhea/menses: These are not likely related, but two different conditions. If the diarrhea continues unabated go and see your PCP and have this evaluated.

Cramps: if the cramps and loose stools came while on your cycle then this from a hormone called prostaglandin and is normal.  ibuprofen is and anti-prostaglandin and will help with the next cycle.

i've had constipation for a while, took miralax (polyethylene glycol) for a couple days, now i have diarrhea and bloating. also on my period. is this normal?! i'm nervous!!

Sounds like your: period. Why are you taking Miralax (polyethylene glycol)? Constipation in a 16 YO needs to be treated with more hydration, and higher soluble fiber (fruits, vegest) and less processed, or fried foods, sugary sweets, sodas. Talk to your pediatrician about doing more heart healthy exercise, and better nutrition to avoid having to use MIralax (polyethylene glycol) as a solution.Your diet is key, and following your doctor's advice too. Be well!
