Lump on skin: Hemodialysis sites look like engorged veins.  If they are "fistulas" (artery connected to a vein) the lump on the skin follows the natural pathway of the vein. Over time these can dilate and become aneurysmal. The arterio-venous grafts are basically synthetic / plastic tubes which are placed right under the skin. These  you can see and feel. The actual needle puncture sites develop small scabs.

Not normal: Green drainage or push from any drains is concerning and should be evaluated before it becomes a bigger problem. If he was my father or brother, I would help him make an appointment with the doctor that put in the chest catheter to at least get it looked at. Even if he is stubborn, it may be that he is afraid of what the doctor may tell him. Get him to make an appointment or make it for him.

Yes: Keep it covered and without tension on the exit site, and use a antibacterial cream recommended by your nephrologist.Contact your nurse if you notice any redness or discharge.

Dialysis: Dialysis can be done through the blood (hemodialysis) or through the abdomen (peritoneal dialysis). Hemodialysis involves passing the blood across and filter to purify it / remove toxins and remove water. Peritoneal dialysis takes advantage of the membrane within the abdomen to act as a filter. In either case toxins are removed from the blood stream.

2: There are  2 types that patients commonly use. "hemodialysis" involves tubes put in the veins, and the blood goes out to a machine that works as an artificial kidney; this takes about 4 hours, 3 times/week. "peritoneal" dialysis involves a catheter (tube) under the skin in the stomach, fluid from bags goes into the abdominal area, then is drained. This process is repeated 4-6 times every day.

See below: Need to know details about your question.Is dialysis iminent ie have you been told that you will end up on dialysis after pregancy since you have chronic kidney disease ? If this is the scenario, its better to try and get a kidney transplant if possible. 
If u have an option think about home hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
