Can live many years: People can live many years with cirrhosis, especially if it is caught in the early stages. You need to do everything possible to protect your liver from further damage including no alcohol, no acetaminophen and eating a healthy diet. If your doctor prescribes medications take them as directed. Please also have your depression treated. Try to lower stress in your life and see a counselor if needed

Haven't heard of it: Haven't heard of st. John's wort causing liver inflammation. The wort does increase activity of some liver enzymes, thus leading to faster breakdown of other medications (the enzymes in the liver break down the other medications more rapidly, if the person is taking st. John's wort). So, medicines like xanax, (alprazolam) elavil, oral contraceptives, statins for cholesterol, etc... May become less potent.

No. Brain problems: Just because some states allow use of cannabis, it is not a benign drug. It is psychoactive and could mess with your brain. Do not take any medications, including herbals, over the counter drugs or street drugs without consulting the doctor who prescribed Lamictal.
Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.

Fish oil fordepressi: For boosting immune system, as antioxidants, both are ok, but for treating major depression, doubt either would be that beneficial by themselves.

H/o panic attack (s): now w ? Major depressive disorder? Could you clarify your question? Did you have just the one panic attack or did you suffer from panic attacks regularly? What helped? Have you seen an MD for what you feel is depression? Do schedule an appointment to be evaluated for major depression and have other medical causes ruled out, so you can begin treatment ASAP! Yes: Her mortality would depend on her MELD score. Should explore deceased and living donor transplant. Hepatitis C treatment has evolved with excellent cures and is well tolerated.

Ask your Doctor: If had bloodwork that included a comprehensive metabolic panel (cmp) then liver function tests (lfts) are included in it. If not, depending on origin of concern, this test or others looking for liver diseases (like hepatitis a/b/c) can be done.

Hi Angie: I tried to answer this earlier today: you have gall bladder disease. The ef should be between 35 and 70% the liver uptake is normal - that's not where the problem is. It's your gall bladder. Treatment will depend on your symptoms and other medical conditions.

There's hope.: It's true that chronic, progressive infection with hepatitis b can lead to liver failure & cancer. But many recent advances in anti-viral medications have improved our ability to control the infection. Work with a hepatologist familiar with this disease. Follow the surveillance protocol closely. Avoid alcohol & drugs toxic to the liver, & if pregnant, get proper immunizations for the baby.
