i just stopped smoking but i have no noticed that my gums are inflamed. it's not painful but it does bleed when brushing or flossing. i have switched to a softer brush as well. please advise of possible medication i could take?

Medications: Medications can often solve many medical issues, but if your gingival inflammation is due to irritation from calculus deposits, then your dentist/hygienist will need to scrape off those deposits. If it has been more than six months since your last professional dental cleaning, it's time to call for an appointment.

Tonsilloliths/sinus: It is possible that the halitosis is coming not from your teeth or mouth, but from your throat or sinuses. Check your tonsils for white tonsilloliths (tonsil stones) which are notoriously bad smelling. These are easily removed with a long Qtip. If you are experiencing facial pain, pressure and one sided headaches near your eyebrow, you may have sinusitis. Use saline nasal washes to clear them.

Decay: Most likely, you have a breakdown of the filling in those areas. To what extent is unknown. The fillings need to be examined and replaced if they have open margins. You may also have calculus in those areas which will contribute to the smell.

Practice: Practice makes it easier to floss.  You might start with floss aides, to start with, but as you advance the clean feeling you get with flossing can only really be achieved with flossing.

Making flossing fun: I am not sure if you can make it fun but there are ways to make it easier. Try different types of floss. I recommend trying something synthetic like glide or oral b. They slide in and out easier. And johnson and johnson has a new one that is "stretchy". If it is easier to do, you might be able to enjoy it more. Another way to make it fun is to take it out of the bathroom...Do it while watching tv.
