Simply: I am assuming the so called 'dental wax' is for braces? If so, the soft clear dental wax can be rolled into a small ball and placed directly on the part of the braces that is sharp or poking. Cover completely and call your orthodontist immediately to get the poking/sharp part fixed.

Braces?: Are you using dental wax to protect your cheeks from braces and wires?  Is so,  at least after every meal, you should replace it as wax may have been dislodged or changed its shape during chewing.  If the wax is used for other reasons, you may need to ask your dentist exactly what to do.

Dental wax: If you are referring to the use of dental wax over sharp or irritating orthodontic brackets or wires? Then the answer is yes. It is completely safe. Just don't overdo it. Use the minimum necessary. Also discuss this with your own dentist.

Dentist will do it: Dental wax (or any temporary material) should be left in place. An appointment should have already been set up by now. Trying to pry it out may just make matters worse. Have the tooth looked at ASAP.

Bad idea: All you will do is trap the bacteria that caused the cavity, allowing them to make the cavity worse leading to an abscess.  Dental wax is just what it's name says, it's wax designed to pad up new dental appliances such as braces.  It has no magical or medicinal properties.  The best thing you can do is see dentist to rx the cavity before it gets out of control.

Probably: But once it&#x27;s used it has collected bacteria and food debris.  Better to use a new piece of wax.  You can buy some at a drug store, or just ask your Orthodontic Specialist or treating General Dentist for a free supply.

Free @ Orthodontist: Ask your orthodontist for wax, won't cost you anything.  If orthodontist unavailable, or if you're seeing a non-orthodontist for treatment, you can try your local pharmacy.  They usually have wax for sale in the dental isle.

Chocolate: Read the ingredients on a chocolate bar wrapper.  There' slots of wax in chocolate.  If you swallow a little wax while asleep it will "work out all right in the end."  use wax to cover "stickers" until you get used to braces.  It's safe and effective.

See your dentist: If you want an accurate answer to your question, you will have to see a dentist.  Since we can't actually examine you, nor see exactly what you are referring to, we can't be expected to properly answer your question. Since you don't wear the retainer all the time, the problem might arise when you aren't using it. Rather than knowing if it could be problematic, see a dentist to find out for sure.
