my hgb is 10+ (12-18), but serum iron is 3 (9-27). i experience extreme fatigue and dehydration, especially with menses. is this serious? thanks!

See your doctor: You have microcytic anemia due to low iron.  When it is severe, shortness of breath, dizziness, chest pain, headaches, &amp; leg pains may occur. Besides the general symptoms of anemia, there are certain symptoms that are characteristic of iron deficiency. These include pica, a burning sensation in the tongue, a smooth tongue, sores at the corners of the mouth, and spoon-shaped fingernails &amp; toenails

i have chronic mild anemia (10.4) due to heavy menses. now it takes barely a day of heavy period to feel dehydrated and weak. is that due to anemia?

Yes. : Likely due to iron deficiency. Eat lots of red meat &amp; take oral iron medication.

Birth control : A D&amp;C has risks and should only be performed if either there is a specific cause for the bleeding suspected by sonogram such as a polyp, hyperplasia or fibroid or if other methods to control bleeding have failed - ie birth control pills.  IUD or Provera (medroxyprogesterone). The majority of heavy cycles are due to hormonal imbalance - burth control pills and NSAIDs are first line treatments and should be tried first

why do i wake up and urinate 2 to 3 times at nights? how do i sleep continuously without waking up to urinate? is it because of d cold o dehydration?

Nocturia: This is very much an unusual situation given your age. The most likely problem is a bladder infection. Next would be a possible std with gonorrhea or chlamydia, and then a prostate infection would be the third likely reason for it. You should get to the doctor to determine what is wrong with you.

I would be most: suspicious of the low vitamin D level. The PTH (normal range considered to be 10-65 pg/ml or ng/L) seems to be about right for the modestly elevated initial calcium level. But if that calcium level was really the result of dehydration (which could be the explanation) then a PTH of 14 is a little low and hypoparathyroidism might be considered.Consider further investigation and vitamin D supplement

This : This sounds more like low blood sugar. Did you eat before practice? If so did you eat enough, that is also an important question? Also, dehydration could also have played a role. Was your fluid intake low? The pain in your throat may have been the start of a throat infection, which could make you more prone to dehydration. If these symptoms have occurred a second time and/ or your throat is sore or you have a fever, i recommend you have a complete evaluation by your doctor right away.

Lack of water: The risk of dehydration goes up with exposure to hot and dry conditions which enhance perspiration to keep the body cool. This leads to water loss. Exercise does the same thing. Any set of circumstances with sweat increases the risk of dehydration. The general rule is that if you feel thirsty you are already dehydrated! so supply your children with free access to water.
