Whether or not medicine can be used also depends on the age of the baby fetus (the number of weeks pregnant). Different methods include mefipristone, Methotrexate (which stops the fetus from developing but then the contents must still be evacuated) and vacuum extraction. Fetal growth: If your last menstrual was in april, your baby would have been way more older than 5 weeks 3 days. If indeed that is true, you baby would have died by now. No heart beat would be seen and your doc is right that if the fetus has not come out by now, you will need to have medical intervention to get it out.

A home test only checks to see if there are any pregnancy hormone levels at all, not if they are the same, more, or less than the last home test.  Only a blood test can tell you if the hormone levels are going down.  Or, the medicine may not have worked and you may still be pregnant.  Talk to your doctor.
