For : For every child (or adult) suffering with asthma, it is important to identify a list of factors that can worsen or trigger their asthma like exposure to smoke (including passive or indirect when the adults smokes "outside" the house), pet dander, pollen, and "cold" (viral upper respiratory infections).

Typically i would advise against the use any over the counter cold medicine for children below two years of age. For older children, i would be interested to ask you what type of cold medicine was your daughter given - a decongestant or a cough suppressant.  Using cough suppressant for an asthmatic can be problematic if coughing is one of the signs of your child asthma attack. So i advise to call your provider and share your concerns with him/her.

And las but not least every asthmatic child should have an asthma action plan to guide you as a parent to help your child during as asthma attack or an illness.  Make sure you use it or ask your provider to give you a copy at your next visit.

It's OK: Pepcid is a type of histamine blocker that is not found in any cold products.  You need to be careful with cold meds because they have multiple ingredients.  I advise my patients to take only OTC meds that have 1 ingredient!  If you need pain relief - take ibuprofen.  If you need cough suppressant - take robitussin (guaifenesin).  If you need decongestant - take sudafed.  Even I get confused in that aisle!!!

how many hours apart can you drink the equate day time cold medicine and the night time cold and flu medicine and i had another question about another medicine it was about the claritin medication it was how many of those pills can you take in a day ?

Hard to guess: Claritin (loratadine) is a once-a-day medication, and does wear off somewhat by night time. Regarding cold medications for example... if Nyquil, with its own antihistamine, is taken at night time, a person would be taking 2 antihistamines, which may or may not be a problem. Each person is different. His doctor can evaluate to see if there anything serious going on.

i'm on minocycline from my dermatologist to take twice a day but i missed it yesterday and i'm also getting a cold. is it safe to take cold medication while on minocycline. if not, what's an alternative that's safe for getting rid of a cold?

: Yes it is safe. Colds are generally viral and run the course before getting better . You can minimize symptoms by otc meds, fluids

Be careful: Since it is a strong stimulant and could have compounded reactions with elements contained in certain cold remedies, before you take both, ask you doctor first! good luck!

: Many decongestant cold medications contain stimulants and shouldn't be combined with Vyvanse. You should check the ingredients and avoid any that contain ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, or propanolamine. Antihistamines shouldn't be a problem.

Aerius=desloratadine: I suspect that you're not in the states b/c aerius (http://www.Drugs.Com/uk/aerius.Html) is not a brand of Desloratadine sold here. There's not likely to be an issue combining Desloratadine (antihistamine) w/cold medication (decongestant) unless you're an older male w/enlarged prostate. However, b/c you didn't mention specific name, i can't check 4 u. Instead, use drugs.Com's interactions checker.
