Still Controversial: John, I'm still not completely through the book, but the premise is one that I am beginning to agree with--namely that carbohydrates are the "root of all evil."  Keep in mind that this assertion is still very controversial, and you will find some doctors who agree with it and some who do not--which is true of almost any new idea amongst doctors. See a Dr: Any unbearable pain which has been going on for years requires a thorough exam by a Dr. Causes for the pain you have described vary from benign (improper posture, poor lifting technique, overuse) to serious ( herniated cervical disc, dislocated rib, heart problem, compression fracture) A Dr will examine you and may order tests and imaging to determine the cause and treatment for this problem.

???: Red wine is not really going to lower cholesterol. There are much treatments.
First: avoid cholesterol containing food
Second: check with your doc what the level is and discuss statins.

Grain Brain: Grain brain contains some life changing ideas.  Whether you adopt all the suggestions depends on your clinical status.  Staying off wheat is probably a good idea for most of us -- other grains like amaranth, quinoa, etc are better.  If you&#x27;re Insulin resistant at all, you might need to be careful of very sweet fruits that increase your blood sugar.  Berries, apples, etc are less a problem.

They can help w: Nturitional deficiencies but the multiple vitamins will not cause you to gain weight. Eat healthy foods that are high in calories. Eat six meals per day. Work on strength training to build your large muscle groups.  Work out w heavier weights w fewer repetitions.  Sleep at least 8 to 9 hours/night. Hydrate well w water. Foods to help w healthy weight gain: almonds, cashews, pecans, sunflower seeds.

Possible: In studies done on livial (tibolone), 1 - 10% of women gained weight.

how did i gain 3 pounds in a week when diet stays the same and even added power yoga.

Accepted Answer

Several possibilitie: You may have added muscle which increases weight. You may have eaten more than you think. You may be retaining water for some reason such as having your period, etc. Don't get nervous about a small short term weight gain.  Make sure your diet is a healthy one that will eventually result in healthy weight reduction. Exclude simple carbs and saturated fats found in pasta, breads, cakes, creams, etc.

Weight gain: Such a large weight gain in one day is likely related to water retention.  This could be secondary to an increase salt intake like through chinese food, or fast food, or could happen with an associated menstrual cycle.  Not to worry, the weight will likely come off over the next few days.  As an aside, it is not necessarily the best idea to weigh yourself daily unless you want to go a little nuts.
