Larvae don&#x27;t bite: Flea larvae survive on eating digested blood from adult flea feces, dead skin, hair, feathers, and organic debris found in carpet, rugs, fabric on furniture, and bedding material.  Adult fleas do bite, because they need a fresh blood meal.  Newly hatched ones will die unless they feed within 1 week; older fleas can live 2 months-1year without feeding.

Call around: If you cannot find them at a large chain pharmacy, try one of the smaller family owned pharmacies as their owners are often more willing to "go the distance."  amazon.Com has several brands of latex free, often called "nitrile" exam gloves, usually in boxes of 100 and in sizes from small to x-large for under 11 dollars a box.  About what i pay for the office from medical supply vendors.

Latex-free products: I know that sounds simple, but if you're allergic to latex, you should avoid products that contain latex (gloves, condoms, balloons, etc.). You might also be careful with certain foods that cross-react (kiwi and banana for example).

why is my baby having a hard time latching on?

Accepted Answer

Depends: Many reasons-- if baby just 1-2 days old, may just take practice.  If 3-4 days old, your breasts may be so engorged w/ milk that baby cannot latch well--in this case, you can pump to make it easier for baby to latch.  After 4+ days old, most latching problems are due to technique, or a difficult shaped nipple.  See your doc or lactation consultant for help.

Breathe: Latex gloves will not allow your skin to breathe well, thus wearing them all night may cause significant issues if done for a prolonged period of time.
