Pregnant/spotting: 31yo female at 4 to 5 weeks gestation with complaint of spotting.   It is likely you may be having implantation bleeding. Nonetheless, kindly see doctor for evaluation with pelvic ultrasound and serial QHCG   for assurance. While waiting fro your doctor, please start on daily prenatal vitamin and ensure you are on balanced diet.  Good luck.

No, not at all: Caffeine, less than 200mg a day is definitely okay in pregnancy.  New studies have come out saying so. Even american college of ob/gyn issued a statement recently stating that.  One cup of coffee usually has around 90 and a shot of expresso, around 75mg.  So you could easily have a double shot latte!  dark chocolate has health benefits and has even less caffeine.  So you're definitely okay!

Normal changes: Pregnancy often causes darkening of the skin particularly in certain areas. The increased pigmentation can fade over time , but that can take months or even years.

Pregnant spotting ?: "Spotting" and/or dark brown  discharge (oxidized blood) is uncommon at 29 weeks of pregnancy, but sometimes is due to part of the placenta covering the cervical canal, and any activity or even fetal movement may trigger some bleeding.  See your OB and obtain an ultrasound to be certain of the cause.

Yes: Viable pregnancies can produce some light bleeding initially, but if it increases in character and amount many early pregnancies fail in the form of miscarriages.
