Why?: Why would you want to take flaxseed when you don't know what's in it, what it's supposed to do, or why you're taking it. Don't get your medical info from friends, tv or the internet. It won't help and could harm you. Make sure your thyroid level is normal on brand name replacement.

i am 46 years old & is on regular medication for high bp, also facing menopause, can i add virgin coconut oil & flaxseed both in my daily diet or not?

Nutrition ?: Adding coconut oil and flax seed to your daily diet will have no effect from your age (46 ) or on the onset of menopause. Although the average for menopause is 54 or so, statistically, menses may not be regular over 40, as the ovaries require more stimulation to ovulate, which delays periods accordingly.

With thyroxine: I'm not sure if you're wanting to take the listed supplements instead of thyroxine (no) or with your thyroxine (yes). Essentially, if your thyroid levels are in the good range, you can take anything that someone with a normally working thyroid can take. Because different docs have different opinions, it's always best to check with your own doc, and make sure s/he knows exactly what you're taking.

Unlikely if . . .: Check out http://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=1463-0,1059-10639 assuming you're referring to Levothyroxine (there are thyroid medications for an overactive thyroid, too). Do be careful w/your Clonazepam as it can cause confusion, addiction &amp; increase risk for falls &amp; fractures (at least in elderly, no, you don't qualify yet).

Yes: It's a popular cooking oil and like anything else greasy and good-tasting, we tend to overeat and get fat from it. If you're actually taking the oil, it's still calories. Real evidence of any health benefit remains sparse at best. Why not just eat sensibly, avoid unhealthy habits, and focus on physical fitness? Health doesn't come from a bottle or pills. Best wishes.

Let him do it: It's a great binder for paint and a component for putty, and is probably not going to do him any harm and may make him feel better. If he believes all the health claims made for the stuff, he'd be reading uncritically. If he's got any real health issues, he needs to "use his flaxseed oil" in conjuction with something evidence-based.
