No: It can treat seborrheic dermatitis which can cause lighter color. Excimer laser, narrow band uvb, or microdermabrasion plus 5 floururacil can regiment vitiligo. See a dermatologist experienced in treating vitiligo.

Hairline: If it from vitiligo, it will not help. If it is flaky and whitish it may be seborrhea and then it may help.

Zinc pyrithione: Zinc pyritione is a known compound that can help with dandruff - but you need to alternate with another shampoo such as salacylic acid, coal tar, selenium sulfide to really keep the dandruff away.

See a dermatologist: You have tried all of the usual simple solutions to this. Get an exam and find out if there is any other specific process in place and find how to deal with it.

Doctor can examine: Prevent dryness (shouldn't wash hair too often). A primary care doctor or a dermatologist can look for psoriasis, eczema, or fungal infections on the scalp. If checking for fungal infections, the dermatologist may take hair samples to culture. Doctors may also try cortisone or triamcinolone sprays to counteract dryness. Some patients put olive oil on the scalp for a while, before showering.

NIZORAL (ketoconazole): Verify the diagnosis first. If dandruff then try Nizoral (ketoconazole) shampoo. If not better you need cortisone for the scalp (by  prescription).

Seborrhea: You probably have seborrheic dermatitis; i'm an expert on that, because I have it too. Over-the-counter dandruff shampoos work on mild cases, but for more serious dryness you need a prescription shampoo such as loprox (ciclopirox) or clobex (there are many others). I often add an anti-inflammatory foam like Luxiq or olux, which can be aplied directly to the scalp and won't mess up your hair.

is there any side effects on using different medicated dandruff shampoo? how was it different from using the natural remedy?

Yes: One could see contact dermatitis, or dryness of the hair or skin of the scalp from medicated shampoos.  I am not sure what your mean by the "natural remedy"?

i have a problem with dust particles in my hair. i use anti dandruff shampoo but that hasn't had any effect. my scalp feels normal otherwise.any help?

Dust: Particles or perhaps dry scalp cells? Sometimes a milder shampoo with conditioner and also skipping one day in between in washing may help. If not recommend you see a dermatologist. Good luck!
