Cataract surgery: while on anticoagulation therapy: this is a judgmental call amongst the ophthalmic surgeon and the anaesthesiologist. Generally for surgical procedures or spinal anesthesia, anticoagulaton needs to be discontinued before the surgery, as for Dabigatrean, 1-2 days prior to surgery and resumes after, while the clopidogrel needs to be withheld 5 days prior to surgery.Again refer to the treating team

how effective is pradaxa dabigatran as an alternative to coumadin (warfarin)?

Pretty good, but...: They are essentially equivalent in thinning the blood to replace coumadin (warfarin), (warfarin) but they require twice daily dosing. Yes, you don't have to get your blood tested like you do with coumadin (warfarin), (warfarin) but if you have a bad bleed, there is no antidote for either you mentioned, like there is for coumadin (warfarin). So one must weigh the risks vs. The benefits, as we do everyday in medicine.

i have to hold dabigatran 110  for 2 days knee injections . is it safe 2 days without anticoagulant?

Safer than bleeding.: While your risk of a vascular event increases during those two days, the risk of bleeding during your knee injection / procedure, in the opinion of your Orthopedic Surgeon, is probably greater (that is why he / she  recommended stopping for 2 days). The low risk of stroke accumulates each day off dabigatran, whereas as the risk of the injection is 1-time. Discuss w/ Surgeon or use HealthTap Prime.

Talk to your doctor: Aldactone (spironolactone) and concor both could cause ed. Please review this with your doctor to find a better alternative. Do not stop medications by yourself.

Possibly : Dabigatran and NSAID type medications (voltaren (diclofenac) ; cataflam) can increase bleeding risk and  nsaids can affect your kidneys with your other medications. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits.
