i have to take myo-inositol for pcos. is it the same as myo-inositol + d-chiro inositol in one pill? also, any risks? i cant find them in any pharmacy or over the counter so im skeptical. also, what dosage to start with?

: D-myo-inositol in herbs/food supplement, is not  a prescription drug, therefore, no specific dosage is found. Norgestimate/ethinyl estradiol is often prescribed to individuals with PCOS.

haven't had my period for 8mths. i'm taking myo inositol and d-chiro-inositol for my hormones imbalance. i spotted for 5days could it be implantation?

Doubtful: You may not be ovulating. Implantation bleeding usually doesn't occur. When it does, it is usually tiny amounts of blood - would not anticipate bleeding for five days from implantation.

: If you do not know what is in the bottle, do not take it. You may wish to consult a gynecologist to address your PCOS. Please note that about 25% of the women have varying degrees of PCOS.

can i take myo inositol.  d chiro without having pcos.? i got a stomach ultrasound and they saw some small ovarian cyst. but i haven't been diagnosed.  but i do have facial hair and thin hair and i don't get pregnant fast.

"PCOS" ?'s: "Facial hair and thinning hair" may be signs of genetic predisposition, and do not conclusively indicate PCOS.  One "small cyst" is also not diagnostic of PCOS.  Ask your gyn about low does oral contraceptives, which is the preferred treatment even if PCOS is actually present. If/when pregnancy is desired, ovulation induction may assist in achieving pregnancy.

Yes: It is changing your metabolism and it may be overloading you the wrong. Way. Some people who continue to take the inositol become comfortable with it.

Inositol is believed: To have anxiolytic effects, allowing a person to become calm so that they can fall asleep.

Possibly: Inositol is a natural supplement that may help anxiety by reducing the stress response.  In two small studies, doses of 12 to 18 g per day was as effective for reducing intensity and frequency of panic attacks as ssri and better than placebo for reducing intensity and frequency of panic attacks.  Side-effects were comparable to ssri and include possible gastrointestinal upset.

: What for? Neither of these will provide any benefit other than lightening your wallet.

: It is not an approved treatment, only a supplement, sometimes called vitamin B8. It affects chemical messengers in your brain, such as serotonin and dopamine, which could probably explain its effectiveness in alleviating anxiety.

Yes, but: There there is no known clinical benefit from taking the inositol.
