soreness on bottom right buttock area. not the coccyx. more so the actual butt cheek (sorry). wondering if my sciatic nerve is inflamed? or is this a cyst forming? any idea how to rid myself of the pain?

: This does not sound like sciatica, but more like a cyst or abscess forming, although it is difficult to say without seeing exactly where it is. Would recommend warm compresses to the area several times/day and ibuprofen or acetaminophen if you have no contraindication to taking those. Watch for increased pain, redness, fever. Please see your doctor if continues or worsens.

is surgery required to remove large sebacious cyst from buttock?

Yes: So in general sebaceous cysts will not every completely go away unless they are removed. This requires a minor surgery. How minor depends on the size of the cyst. These can be often be done in the office under local anesthesia if done early when they are small, however, if large enough may require more than just local anesthesia. Best is to consult with a surgeon - general or plastic surgeon.

A few weeks: Assuming you are receiving good wound care, and are healthy your wound should be almost completely healed in 3 weeks or so.

Pilonidal Cysts: It sounds like there is a problem.  It is time to get back to the doctor's to have this looked at.

: A physician would have to examine you for diagnosis and advice. This could be an inclusion cyst, ingrown hair, lipoma,pustule or incipient boil.

Back pain: don't know what the cysts could be...its a little unusual.  the buttock pain is almost certainly from sciatica or SI joint pain...see your ortho if persists

Pilonidal cyst: A pilonidal cyst commonly occurs in the location you describe.  It can get inflammed and infected causing pain.  He should go in to get it looked at.  Depending on the appearance, they can either drain it or prescribe antibiotics.

It's unlikely: A ganglion cyst on your back could cause those kinds of symptoms. It may be a pilonidal cyst or something else unrelated causing sciatica.  First, get diagnosed.  One of the best treatments for sciatica is acupuncture.  Feel better!

Hard to speculate: You have not specified whether the cyst is in the location of the shot. You have not otherwise provided a location, character or size. This will likely require a direct exam to sort out.
