Not MS: There are a variety of normal variants/benign cystic structures in the brain.  Please discuss your diagnosis with your doc (neurologist). 

Please make sure your MRI was performed on a scanner accredited by the american college of radiology, performed by registered technologists and interpreted by a qualified, board certified radiologist (a doctor with 5-6 years of training after medical school!).

Usually normal: Most babies with choroid plexus cysts in the brain are normal, and almost all cysts go away by the end of the second trimester.  But cysts can also be a marker for a problem called trisomy 18, which means an extra chromosome 18 in every cell of a baby's body.  A maternal fetal medicine doctor can do an ultrasound and look for any other sign of trisomy 18.

Rest easy: The only thing that puzzles me is why you've started to worry about a 6-year-old MRI. That cyst was most likely there when you were born and it'll be there when you die. If it hasn't caused any problems by now, I think you can stop fretting about it.

Would especially want to know:
thyroid function tests, b12, liver function tests, kidney function tests, etc.

Depends on cause: Many cysts in the brain are congenital, and quite benign, such as an incidental arachnoid cyst.  Infections such as parasites may present as a brain cyst and cause seizures.  Some bad tumors may grow so fast that the insides may die and become cystic.  If there is concern, contact a local neurosurgeon, and get evaluation.

Need for treatment : depends on size &amp; location of arachnoid cysts &amp; whether or not they cause neurological symptoms from pressure on underlying brain tissue. Neurosurgeons perform minimally invasive micro neurosurgical endoscopic procedures to remove membranes of a cyst or open a cyst so its fluid drains into the normally flowing cerebrospinal fluid. my 15mnth old wont stop scratching the back of his head. he has a rash on his body. he has incidental cyst on his brain. could this be the cause?

Rash: No the internal structure of the brain is not affected or causative of this back of scalp rash. You can apply OTC 1% hydrocortisone 3x/d it red, itchy until gone. It
