Yes: All things are possible with medications. Generally antidepressants don't cause body aches, especially Cymbalta (duloxetine) which is used for chronic muscle pain of fibromyalgia. Cympbalta helps diabetic peripheral neuropathy but is a marginal primary treatment for depression.Depression is often a cause of body aches and pains. It all makes semnse if you think about it.

Not likely: Less than 2% of those studied with Cymbalta (duloxetine) complained of body aches.  This was similar to placebo.  I tell my patients that all meds cause side effects and if the only thing new in your life is the addition of Cymbalta (duloxetine) than that be the the culprit.  Many side effects we cease if you continue the medication.  You should discuss this with your doctor.

have any of you doctors found success in patients using cymbalta (duloxetine) for arthritis and body pain (lower back and generalized pain) i have had oa/ra and generalized body pain (probably including fibro) for over 10 years.  is there hope?

Yes, : Yes, Cymbalta (duloxetine) and similar medications have been used with some success in generalized pain syndromes such as fibromyalgia.  Various medications that help mood and sleep also have a beneficial effect on pain.  At the same time, it's very important to pursue a low impact aerobic conditioning program and to deal with stress if that's an issue.

fierce stomach pains/aches normal with cymbalta (duloxetine)? seems to get worse the longer i'm on it, not better. been about 6months now. 60mg once a day.

Not normal: Cymbalta (duloxetine) does not generally cause stomach pain 6 months into treatment.  Please speak to your primary care physician about your new symptom.

i have chronic heath aches. one everyday a migraine once a week. i have tried everything from tramadol to cymbalta and topamax (topiramate). i don't know what to do!  my doctor doesn't listen?

Headache: If not already tried, discuss possibility of referral to a neurologist for evaluation & possible Botox injections or other alternative tx.

using cymbalta (duloxetine) and lamotrigine for  6 months and noticed hair thinning, headaches, muscle aches and horrible nausea. is this normal and will it last?

Unusual: You seem to have unusually strong adverse reactions to these medications. Generally side effects diminish over days to weeks, not usually months. I would suggest you talk to your doctor. I wonder if something else could be going on...

i have been taking cymbalta 60 mg po bid for over a year. i am having issues with blurred vision, weight gain and fatigue. also lack of energy, loss of libido, muscle aches and lack of emotion. my anxiety/depression controlled but i feel crappy..?

: Please have a physical exam to know if these symptoms are due to illness. If not, you may be having side effects from the medication. Please discuss the medication with your Psychiatrist. If you are not confident with your Psychiatrist please see another for a second opinion. Also, see a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in multiple types of psychotherapy for help.

Menopause: Yes. Absolutely. Hot flashes and muscle or body aches among other symptoms are very common.

Viral infection: A virus can cause all of your symptoms described above. So can other causes but if this is simply a new onset complaint then it is likely a viral infection. Worst case scenario is to see your doctor for an influenza swab although we are technically out of the season.

will taking amitiza (lubiprostone) cause body aches?

Accepted Answer

Not common...: ...but I have seen that complaint in some of my patients. Only way to tell is to stop the Amitiza (lubiprostone) &amp; see if those aches go away.
