Flu outbreak: Thanks to the immunisation of children and adults, we have not had a full blown flu epidemic lately.But unvaccinated children and adults can get sick and there is absentism in govt offices which slows down some essential services.As far as schools are concerned they try their best to encourage vaccinating children, but there is absenteism and can lead to school closings if the epidemic is not contro.

No perfect answer: Unfortunately, the question has not been studied extensively. In general, doctors recommend that people not have a vaccine when they are fighting an infection.

If you were my patient, I would recommend that you wait to get the flu shot until the shingles greatly improves or goes away completely. You should check with your doctor about this, however.

Seasonal Flu: It is strongly encouraged to get your annual seasonal influenza shot.  This fall we  might be contending with seasonal flu &amp; COVID 19 at the same time. This doesn't mean that the FLU shot will protect you from COVID-19 specifically.

Avoid indoor crowds: 2 year olds don't wash hands and they pickup and share all germs.  During flu season, it is best to protect your loved little ones from places such as movie houses, fast food play grounds, indoor rec centers, bowling alley... Where people gather and you can't control their hand washing, coughing, sneezing...Play out doors.  It also helps to stay healthy and get vaccinated.

Stay aware: Flu continues to be a problem, so use common sense precautions such as getting a flu shot, wash hands well before eating or touching eyes, avoid sick people, wear a face mask if needed in crowded places. Get regular exercise, adequate sleep, and maintain immune system. Coronavirus is different from typical flu, but spreads similarly. Unless you are near these  infected people, you should be fine.

Flu & daycare: The best answer is yes. In many situations, this may not be practical, in which case just get vigorous about precautions--wiping down all surfaces, careful hand-washing (all staff), and teaching the kids to do careful handwashing. Exclude any children with high fever or constant cough (use a mask for them until they can be picked up by their parent).
