Opportunity to help: Seriously! i always wanted to help people get healthy. Plus i'm more a one-on-one kind of guy so public health isn't my cup of tea. And i like doing lots of different things which is why i choose family medicine, which also allows me the opportunity to care for the whole family, from cradle to grave as we say. It's also given me the opportunity to do different things time.

Career decisions: If you have a retirement income already - consider doing something that you really love (even if it pays less). If you are really happy in your current line of work - consider continuing it. It is a major life decision - so recommend getting input from or bouncing your thoughts off others (especially if you have a spouse). Take care.

What's the cause: When our bodies sustain an injury, the response is inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling). This is the body increasing blood flow and bringing healing factors to the area and the veins expand to carry bad stuff away. While this is generally how things heal, the question is what caused the wound.  Bedsores are treated different than vein ulcers, neuropathic ulcers, etc. We need the cause.

Can't say: I had 2 classmates in their late 40s in medical school. It wasn't easy but they did it.

If you were in: a  small city without a hospital - it is possible that there might not be an oncologist in the vicinity. But, for the most part the answer is yes.

Cool kindness: Don't say, "cheer up" or "you have no reason to be sad."  help out with the little things in life. Keep up the friendship without its subject being the person's mood. You mean more than you think or your friend can show. If the person is seriously dysfunctional, offer a drive to her primary care physician for possible consideration of treatment for dysthymia / depression.

The body increases the blood flow and brings healing factors to the area and also the veins expand to carry bad stuff away. The blood vessels leak and fibrin is deposited in the wound to help clotting and healing.  This is what your body secretes to protect the open wound until skin grows.

THERE ARE WAYS OF: Seeking legal advice to prove them wrong. You are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. At least in this country...Last time i checked.

Doctors and nurses are obvious, but child life specialists, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, speech therapists, social work and psychologists are among the many other choices.  Also, health providers of many types can tailor their practice or career to focus on children in particular.
