Other causes: Dont take pain medications known as nsaids. Make sure there are no reversible causes- check with your doc. Creatinine should not increase further just because one kidney was removed.

It's is because creatinine is not a sensitive marker for kidney disease, and much loss has to occur before the creat becomes abnormal.  A 24h for creatinine clearance is a better indicator of renal function.

Control and prevent.: Treatment is aimed at controlling the underlying disease which is causing his dysfunction ( diabetes, hypertension, etc.) and in preventing further damage to the kidneys by avoiding any kidney toxic medications and in potentially taking appropriate medications such as angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors.  Sounds like you have already talked to someone about this.

Study aboad : Having one kidney usually causes no health issues with a young person and it would be rare that it would cause any health impairment in most cases.   This forum can not address medical causes to study aboard.

One: A normal creatinine level should be around 1. A trick of the trade regarding creatinine is to divide 100% by the value, and then that gives you an idea of how much kidney function you have.  For instance, if you have a creatinine of 2, then divide 100% by 2: you are running on 50% kidney function. The fact that you have one kidney and have diabetes does not change the "normal" number.

Protect kidney : The remaining kidney will enlarge and take over the blood filtering function of the lost kidney. To protect the remaining kidney, make sure any medical problems that affect kidney function, like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, are kept under good control. Some would recommend avoiding contact sports to decrease risk of injury.

At 3, S creatinine may be 0.2-0.5 mg/dl reflecting his lean muscles, hydration, &amp; solitary kidney. It is right to just use one report to tell if kidney works well or not at this time.  So, asking his pediatrician is the most reasonable thing to do.  All the best to his health
