i have been having ingrown toenail since june 2018 and managing the pain by using ointment and cream, i got from the pharmacy. i want to have it removed now?

: Most are trained in the procedure &amp; some enjoy doing it. Some might refer you out to a foot doctor based on their patient load ( it does take extra time). I would call the office staff &amp; see what they suggest.

No: Ingrown toe nail causes a foreign body type reaction due to the toenail growing into tissue that it otherwise should not. It needs to be removed.

No: Ingrown toenails are a physical problem in which a sharp edge or corner of the toenail is under some skin and continues to grow, thus cutting into the skin. The skin then gets swollen, inflamed, and painful. An anti-fungal cream would not help resolve the ingrown toenail problem.

Not by itself: Anti fungals of any type will only help if the infection is fungal.  Even then that would only be part of the answer.   The ingrown nail must still be removed and an environment  condusive to healing must be developed at the site.

Removal...: ...Is the only permanent solution. Just the painful border can be removed, or the entire nail if necessary. After removal you can let the border grow out again, or your doctor can use a chemical to stop the nail from regrowing. If you're concerned, don't perform bathroom surgery on yourself. That can lead to an infected ingrown toenail, which could require antibiotics.

It may hurt, but...: There is a small piece of nail still embedded in the corner. You need to get that out. If you can't get it out on your own, a podiatrist can. Sometimes this can be done without numbing the toe, but often, anesthesia is necessary. If it is a chronic condition, there is a very successful surgery that can be done to permanently correct the problem.

You keep using: Bad shoes with narrow tip , besides need correct complete treatments see your podiatrist as soon as possible.

Ingrown toenail: Most ingrown toenails will not heal by them self without treatment. Soaking the toe in epsom salts an warm water may help to alleviate the discomfort but you should see your podiatrist for further evaluation if the area is red and swollen.
