i'm 46;for a few months i get cramping on/off, always right side, can be a week or hours before period. would love feedback; is this normal/common?

Where is cramping?: Are you referring to cramping in right arm, right leg, right side of chest, abdomen, pelvis? If it occurred in pelvis 2wks prior to menses, it might be mittelschmerz or ovulatory pain. Could be a (kidney) stone if right flank. Ovarian torsion would be in pelvis. Lots of reasons or possible causes. Need to go see your family doctor for an evaluation. Good luck!

i had dark brown discharge 3 days before period and now 3 days late for my period. i only get faint positive line. i have slight cramps in both sides?

Positive line: When you state a “faint positive line” are you referring to a pregnancy test? If so then it is important to see a doctor for pregnancy confirmation. Bleeding during pregnancy is very common but never normal and requires an evaluation to make sure all is normal.

can you have a negative pregnancy test and day before period, and still be pregnant? also been having cramps on one side since ovulation.

YES.: A pregnancy test tests for the presence of HCG in the urine.  HCG is produced by the placenta starting early on in pregnancy and rising as the pregnancy progresses.  If it's positive, it's a clear indication of pregnancy.  If it's negative, you could still be pregnant.   The urine specimen may be too diluted, the embryo not viable, the test done too soon or the pregnancy ectopic.  See your doctor!

Pregnancy?: Assuming sex at Christmas was approx. day 13-16 and "unprotected" : get a serum HCG test and if positive see your healthcare provider for a pelvic sonogram. Ectopic pregnancy or ovarian cyst can cause pain in tubal area on right. Do not delay especially if HCG is positive.

Ultrasound: If you're having severe pain associated with periods and especially if it hurts more on one side than another then it likely means you should have an ultrasound done or at least a physical pelvic exam to look for any ovarian abnormalities, such as an endometriosis cyst. You should consider using birth control pills or an IUD to help regulate your period related pain. See a gynecologist!

Take a test: If you think you might be pregnant check then check a home pregnancy test. They are cheap, reliable and available  at any pharmacy. You said sex was protected and he used a condom then pregnancy is highly unlikely. Sounds like you should see a gynecologist to discuss birth control options too.

ttc for 7 months. started having lower back pain on right side cramping on right side. began bleeding 12 days after last period. any explanations?

Did you take a: home pregnancy test during any of this time? It is possible that even though you got your period you might have been pregnant and now you  are miscarrying. Alternatively, and more likely, this irregularity to your cycle is what is keeping you from conceiving. Time to consult your doctor who may be able to provide counsel regarding ovulation monitoring, etc, and/or advise further testing. Good luck

Two problems: It sounds like you have an infection. Headaches, cramping and frequent urination represent a urinary tract infection.  The headaches mean it is very serious.  Heavy bleeding and late represent hormone fluctuations. I would wonder if you were not entering into menopause.

Read answer: Normal periods could happen within a range of plus or minus 7 days. You might have your period sooner. If you have any chance of being pregnant, do a pregnancy test in 1-2 weeks , if still no period in 2 weeks, repeat your pregnancy test. If you are still cramping and getting worse, please see your gynecologist.
