Edema: Many things can cause swelling of the extremities; trauma, problems with veins, heart issues, kidney disease to name a few.  I would recommend evaluation by your physician.  Elevation and compression stockings may be helpful to treat the swollen areas.

my son has thrown up a few times and then started to have tingly, numb cramped up hands. seems to have fever.

Electrolyte losses: With vomiting, you lose salts as well as fluids. Your son has probably lost a vital amount of salt and now is experiencing muscle irritability because of that. I would advise getting to an Emergency Room or Urgent Care center right away. IV fluids with re-balance of the electrolytes will resolve this problem. Hope you can get help now -it is very important.

when should i return to work. on sat 7/16/11 i got extreamly dehydrated at work.i did not pasout but felt like it.when i got home my condition got worse.dificulty breathing, tingling and numbnes in the lips and fingertips.then both hands cramped completel

It : It would be important to assess why you became so dehydrated.  Sometimes dehydration occurs because of the environment around you, for example if it is too hot in the workplace.  Sometimes we become dehydrated because we haven't had enough liquid intake, and sometimes because we are sick, for example with vomiting or diarrhea.  Your idea of drinking gatorade and eating bananas is a good idea, and be sure to drink plenty of water also.  I would advise have a medical evaluation prior to returning to work to discuss this situation with your physician, and to discuss ways to prevent dehydration in the future.

Tell me more: How is he now? It could at least be some type of reaction to the stress of the argument. If he recovered quickly without any further problem then maybe it was. But either way, you should cut the poor guy some slack. Well that's my opinion anyway.

Muscle cramps: Sometimes muscles cramps such as you describe are due to potassium or magnesium deficiency. Make certain you eat a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Warm soaks: Hand cramps can occur for a number of reasons. Best initial treatment is to stop the activities that are provoking the cramping, rest the hand, and soak the hand in a tub of warm water. You want the temperature very warm, but not hot enough to burn. Rest the hand is the water for 5 minutes, then gently massage and stretch the fingers while in the water for 5 more minutes.
