This : This sounds like fissured tongue and can be a troubling problem. Unfortunately there is no cure and can represent a variant of normal. General recommendations is to avoid heavily seasoned, acidic, spicy, or salty foods that might get into the fissures (cracks) of your tongue and irritate the sensory nerve branches which are now closer to the surface than someone without fissuring. Some people get benefit with use of biotene products otc ( toothpaste, mouth rinse available). There are more aggressive treatments, but i would start with the simple things first.

Fissured Tongue: I have never heard of any method to improve or reduce the appearance of a fissured tongue.  I am assuming there are no medical or systemic complicating factors.  Keep your mouth clean and consider using both antimicrobial rinses and a tongue brush or scraper to keep your tongue clean to prevent an bacterial or fungal overgrowths.

Cheilosis? : The changes at the corners of your mouth may be from cheilosis. Your tongue changes may be from glossitis. These conditions are usually due to nutritional deficiencies, especially B vitamins &amp; iron. Do you have a malabsorption illness, or chronic blood loss of some kind? Contact dermatitis can also cause cheilosis. See your clinician to help you sort it out. Hope that helps.

is it normal to have a crack in your tongue? i have one crack on the top of my tongue toward the tip. ive read about fissures, but i only have one and it seems like with fissures you have many. i didnt bite or damage my tongue?
