Hyperthyroidism can cause insomnia, light or missed periods, shortness of breath, weight loss, change in appetite, nervousness ; other emotional reactions, palpitations, - as well as fatigue, irritability, sweating, loss of hair, loose stools, tremor ; weakness.

Can you talk to other women in your family about how they were at your age? Frequently, the way your body works closely maps to how mom, sisters have experienced their development. See GYN: NMS but it makes sense to stop getting progesterone which in fact creates somewhat of a pseudopregnant state to prevent another pregnancy.  Talk to your GYN about alternative treatment.

i had blood work done and my free t4 came back as 0.86, tsh 3.550. my dr. says these levels are good. but im not sure. i have gained 30lbs over 3 months, my throat hurts, irregular periods, constipation and depression. what do i do?

: I feel that an underactive thyroid has been ruled out by those values.  Seek help from a mental health professional for your depression. Has your physician examined your throat and neck to determine the cause of throat discomfort?  A dietician and proper treatment for your depression should be helpful. Your gynecologist will have to advise you about your irregular periods.

See your doctor: There are several possibilities as to why you're not having regular periods.   The problem, at its very base, is you are not ovulating regularly.      An evaluation (exam + lab work) can help lead to the cause and therapy to help initiate ovulation can be started.

Typically, the optimal combination of things to treat emotional issues such as depression is medication (which, on your best day, is supposed to take the edge off symptoms) but the real gruntwork takes place in psychotherapist's consulting room.
