i am on the generic of seasonique.  in the middle of the  pill cycle (just finishing up the 2nd month).  been breakthrough bleeding for the last 2 1/2 weeks.  it occured the same time i got sick with a bad cough. (don't know if that is coincidence or not)

BTB: If you were on antibiotics that might affect your pill.  To be safe would check a pregnancy test.

Hemoptysis: is not normal to cough up blood. Reasons for hemoptysis include blood clot to the lungs pneumonia bronchitis bleeding problems. are you perhaps taking too much aspirin or nonsteroidals?

Many possibilities: Lower abdominal pain with cough can be many things, but if accompanied by heavy bleeding, one big concern is miscarriage, or possibly ectopic pregnancy, which can be very serious.  An examination by a doctor can evaluate you for other causes too - such as appendicitis, colitis, bladder infection, hernia. Do a pregnancy test, or just see the doctor right away for an evaluation.

just had a hacking cough after choking on water. i had tonsillectomy 4 days ago. will this increase bleeding risk?

BreathingAsAnOption: Those tonsils,and what's left of them,have lots of little blood vessels in them, so after surgery(for at least a week, maybe two)they are prone to bleed if bothered (like by rough foods,prolonged heavy coughing,sneezing,vomiting,etc).But in your case,you had one episode and didn't bleed so the risk going forward is probably the same.Of course,you could just hold your breath for the next week or so

Discahrge: If your periods are irregular and painful you must see a gyn. Your upper respiratory infection is unlikely to be related- feel bester but get a gyn exam.
