No emergency: You should see a urologist in the future. It could be a number of things. Depending where in the cortex the nodule is located it, could even be a stone. See a urologist in the next month or so.

: Hands, feet, length of arms, etc are not precisely the same. The difference in kidney size reported is not clinically significant.

i had a lumbar mri due to increased pain and found a lot of degenerative changes. it also found the following: there is a focus of uniform t2 prolongation in the medial lower pole of the right kidney measuring 20 mm in diameter. what does it mean?

Mass: This is a situation where your physician should sit down with the radiologist who interpreted the study and get a differential diagnosis as well as suggestions from the radiologist for any other diagnostic testing or recommendations for consultation with a specialist - a urologist, for example.  The finding on your MRI shows a mass and further investigation is needed.

Urologist: You could try a combination of Magnesium, B-multivitamin and vitamin D3.  That can help prevent further stones, but you probably need to see a urologist  about the larger stones.

No: There are no home or allopathic Rxs.For stone this size,it will give trouble,often infection.Treatment could be given by percutaneous surgery or by retrograde endoscopic flexible pyeloscopy by a urologist experienced in this.Rarely lower pole hemi-nephrectomy(taking lower pole of kidney out) is indicated.Limited space for details.See a urologist.Good luck.
