VAT: Video aided thoracoscopy (vat) has greatly  minimized pain in lung wedge resection.  The lung is first deflated by in injecting air into the space between the lung and chest wall and the lung is deflated.  A fiberoptic scope and instruments are then inserted between the ribs and the wedge resection is performed.  Special staplers and instruments are used to seal the lung. Hurts less this way.

Reasonable: Surgical resection is the best option for lung cancer cure, if the cancer can be removed in its entirety. The amount of lung to be resected depends on the patients ability to tolerate the removal of a substantial amount of tissue. Breathing tests are performed prior to surgery to figure this out. Removal of a lung, lobe, segment, or wedge can all lead to cure. A lobe is preferred.

Not healed: The pneumothorax refers to air within your pulmonary cavity, external to your lung.  This occurs during surgery when the pulmonary cavity was opened up to resect a part of your lung.  The chest tube under suction is an attempt to drain this air and fluid until everything is healed.  It just suggests things are not completely healed yet.  At some point, there are other options for intervention .

Chest xray: Need chest x-ray to make sure you do not have atelectasis--lung not expanding

may need "blow bottle" to expand but need to r/o pneumonia as well with all the surgery you have had.

Nonspecific: Could be a normal reaction from the breathing tube you had during the surgery. Could also be an upper respiratory infection. Other than causing pain at the incision site, its probably not dangerous. Ask your doctor when he/she is making rounds, or at your next visit. Can try some cough suppressant in he mean time. Covid19: I think his risk of getting covid19 is no more than anyone else, but, if he contracted it,he would be more susceptible to complications because of his lung and cardiac status. I'm confident that he will be very vigilant about recognizing covid19 symptoms very early and getting early treatment and support. Let's hope he doesn't contract it.

Lung biopsy: Looks like they are trying to rule out infection other than tuberculosis, so the culture may have been taken for this reason. You can always call the ordering doc to find out what was ordered.
